The flight over here went fairly well, getting into Ireland 45 minutes late and having to sprint to my gate was the only bump in the road. I arrived at Marco Polo airport and immediately hopped on the bus to the city. I didnt get a whole lot of sleep on the plane so I was in a trance of sort when I got there. I immediately found a place to drop my heavy bag off and started to wander. Despite having a map, it took about five minutes for me to get lost. After about 3 hours of walking around, I a man in front of a restaurant approached me and said, "you look lost, can I get you some wine?" I obliged and proceeded to have my first glass of amazing white wine and a smoked salmon that makes me salivate every time I think about it to this day.
Later, after dinner I found a hotel in an alleyway and got a one person room on the top floor. Unfortunately while in Venice, I wasnt able to make it to San Marco, or ride on the river, but my overall experience was amazing.
As I was leaving Venice, standing in my bright purple K-State shirt, a girl approached me asking if I was with CIMBA. Thank God for Olivia because we needed to put our heads together to figure out how to get on the bus back to the airport, where a bus was waiting there to take us to Paderno.
During the bus ride, I met about ten people, who now I am going to be traveling with every weekend. Paderno is such a beautiful city, Mount Grappa is literally right on top of us. A couple of friends and I have taken numerous walks just to see everything and take it all in.
My daily agenda consists of 8am class, lunch at 1130, class from 2-6, dinner, basketball, study/a glass of wine before bed.
Our plan for this weekend is to go to Cinque Terre and stay in a hostel on an island which the name escapes me. Im going with about 6 guys/gurls from West Virginia U, a few U of Iowans, and a K-Stater that I met before we came. I did a pretty terrible job of taking pictures in Venice but I will for sure have pictures after this weekend trip.
I will try to update this weekly or so, or after any major events take place.
Ciao!
